Happy Mother’s Day

donna and kids

To moms and grandmas everywhere, Happy Mother’s Day!

Speaking of kids, Kayla will be starting her weekly-video series on Wednesday!

Mom

This is my mom and I in the middle during her 80th birthday tour of the old haunts around Oakland.  On the left are my two brothers and sister, and on the right is Uncle Tom and Sally.

We are standing in front of my grandparents’ house, which my parents inhabited once my grandma passed.  The current owners were gracious enough to allow us in for a tour eight years after they purchased!

This was one of the houses sold by my sister during her brief stint as a realtor. When her and my mother insisted that the list price be over $2 million, I had her send me the comps.  I told her it would sell for $1,500,000, which resulted in catcalls and boos, and the expected “what do you know about this market!”.

You can see how it turned out here:

Happy Mother’s Day Mom!

Chevro

Hey Jim…you’re in Escondido?

  1.  Blog Reader, Will Travel!  I’m here to help you!
  2.  I want Kayla to be well-versed in all areas, price points, and socio-economic classes – we want to help everyone!
  3.  This is the first of three listings this month that are tailor-made for the multi-generational buyers.  Let’s conduct a full exam of this product type!

Kayla recognized straight away that this is a property that would work for investors too.  The permitted granny flat will rent for $900 per month, and the house should fetch $2,200!

Join Kayla and I for open house from noon to 3pm on Sunday (4/3)!

Wifey Enjoying a Good Laugh

March 8 2016 126

We got a new TV for the Super Bowl for free, paid for by American Express points. I set it up temporarily for the game, and now a month later it’s about time I throw it on the wall in place of the old one.

I guessed maybe 30 minutes to install.

Five hours later, this is as far as I’ve gotten. New wires fished through the wall, and hoping to get away with half a bracket. But as I got close to hanging the TV, it became apparent that the wire hole at the bottom would not be covered, plus wifey’s idea of painting the wall first ended up being clairvoyant.

I’m glad I don’t watch much TV!

Top Five Favorite Vehicles

I mentioned in this video the bucket list Top Five vehicles – here’s my list:

1979 Cadillac Seville

1979 Cadillac Seville, had this one for a couple of years, shouldn’t have sold it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
53willyscj3b
1953 Willy’s CJ3B. It had the original flathead four-banger engine that could crawl over anything. We changed that out for a Chevy 283V8. Rolled it two different times, no one killed. We built a big cake around it and cruised the last Fullerton homecoming parade like in Animal House (they cancelled the football program the next year).  It was also the ride I was driving when I met my wife – I borrowed my dad’s car to take her to Bobs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

51 cadillac

1958 Cadillac Convertible – with the big fins! One of the few decent things done by the Padres when they gave Trevor this one as they retired his number 51. The 1959 version is great too.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
69camaro
1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible – Indy Pace Car.  A staple on favorite-lists everywhere and mine made a little more special when John Doe and Exene drove up in one when they played at Fullerton.
The fifth is seen at the end of this video:
JtR on the Radio
jim and kayla
I was invited to participate on Eran Sinai’s radio show today.
These shows go quickly so we agreed to limit the discussion to our local market, expectations for 2016, and how to select a good agent.
I mentioned during the break that it’s a good thing that the blog keeps me limited to 500 words or so, because I could ramble for hours!
Best Real Estate Blogs
best blog
Bubbleinfo.com was named one of the Top 87 real estate blogs in the country (who knew there were 87?).  For those folks looking for real estate data outside of San Diego County, here is the complete list of bloggers scattered from coast to coast:
http://www.coastalgroupoc.com/blog/best-realtor-blog-awards-2016-winners.html
On his blog he is known as “Jim the Realtor” and Jim covers the San Diego real estate market. I love to follow the financial markets and Jim puts a lot of that into his blog. You can find everything from economics to local activities.  If you love numbers, graphs and the occasional video this is a good spot for you.
Thank You David Feldberg!
JtR on Live Radio
1700
I’ll be on Lunch ‘N’ Learn Radio tomorrow, January 20th from noon to 1pm on 1700 AM.  I’m sharing the bill with Chris Ward, who is running for San Diego City Council this year.
If you can tune in to 1700 AM, great, but if not, we should get some video of it to include on the blog. We will firm up the topics later today, but one already on the list is how to select a realtor.
